Black Opal Ventures Co-Founder and Managing Partner Dr. Tara Bishop traveled to Dallas earlier this month to speak at the AI Breakfast, hosted with support from Sentiero Ventures and LH Capital, Inc. & Lyda Hill Philanthropies. Dr. Bishop shared the stage with Dr. Carina Tyrrell for a conversation on artificial intelligence and its growing role in healthcare and the life sciences, moderated by Nicole Small.

The event drew a full room of founders, investors, and industry leaders at Old Parkland, and we were thrilled to be in the Dallas area for it. Dr. Tara Bishop and Dr. Carina Tyrell covered a wide range of ground, from real-world AI use cases in healthcare and life sciences to the evolving role of AI in clinical care. They also explored biosecurity, including the new threats that AI is introducing, and the technology and investment needed to address them. The audience was hugely engaged throughout, with thoughtful questions that carried the conversation well beyond the stage. For Black Opal Ventures, which invests in early-stage companies across healthcare, biotech, hard tech, cybersecurity, and infrastructure, conversations like this one are a valuable way to connect with the builders and ecosystems shaping how AI will transform care.

Black Opal Ventures extends its thanks to David Evans and Sentiero Ventures, and to Nicole Small and Meredith Denby of LH Capital, Inc. & Lyda Hill Philanthropies, for organizing the event and inviting us to be part of it.
