By Eileen Tanghal, Co-founder and Managing Director

Last week I attended the Global Corporate Venturing Symposium in London.

We at Black Opal Ventures are pleased to count leading corporations such as Eli Lilly, Henry Ford Health and Atlantic Health. As a former leader of the corporate venture capital arm of Applied Materials and VP New Business Ventures of Arm, I know first-hand how critical venture capital can be as a mechanism for sustaining continuous innovation and growth.

Corporates remain the main exit route for most venture capital backed companies. Corporations can also serve as important development and channel partners even at the earliest stages of a company’s life.

We are pleased to be one of the few funds backed by Global Corporate Venturing and Jim Mawson.

This year, we are also pleased to have joined the Defense Tech Council and join my former colleagues from IQT, NSSIF (Edmund Phillips), and friends from 3M (Ben Wright), and SRI Ventures (Todd Stavish). We look forward to working with everyone to ensure a more resilient future.
